  • Israel has threatened to arrest any Palestinian from Jerusalem al-Quds who post Facebook material deemed anti-Israeli. This is the latest in Israeli crackdown against Palestinians in the holy city where tensions have been on the rise in the past weeks.
Tel Aviv has threatened to arrest Palestinians in Jerusalem al-Quds, whom they accuse of posting what they call inciting Facebook posts against Israel and Israelis. This is the latest of escalating Israeli measures against the Palestinians in the holy city.

32-year-old Mahmoud Asila, from the Old City of al-Quds, was arrested last week for what Israeli forces described as spreading violent propaganda. He was accused of QUOTE “incitement” for supporting recent car attacks carried out by Palestinians against Israeli forces. Israeli media revealed that Asila took responsibility for the Facebook posts and said they are part of his “freedom of speech”. Tensions have been on the rise in Jerusalem al-Quds over the past weeks, with Tel Aviv intensifying crackdown against the Palestinians in response to violence against Israelis. Palestinians have launched a campaign on social media for what is seen as a third intifada. All Israeli measures that have been taken lately, are aimed at tightening Tel Aviv’s grip on the city and its Palestinian residents. For the Israeli regime, Palestinians’ freedom of speech even on Facebook is forbidden and would trigger serious consequences
